We have tons of posts to catch up on and with luck we will in the coming days. Now that the rainy season is upon us we are starting to fight the weather once again along with the shortening days.
Today Soldier A was able to get the landing gear reassembled an installed on the long trailer. There was a bit of a problem with a damaged set of threads but that was overcome and the job got completed. Another baby step but it's DONE! LOL!

On one of his less than better days
about a week ago Soldier A forgot to turn off the main power switch again and totally drained all four of the batteries. I'm talking drained to the bottom LOL! Not even enough juice to power the low air buzzer! Way to go A!
So, for the last four days he has been charging them back up one at a time. Taking a full 24 hours or more for each one. We're talking dead here! 😆
Got the Dragon Wagon fired back up this morning. Hope he has learned his lesson once and for all. If this blog teaches any lesson it would be that the world presents challenges not expected every day.

After a good round with the sander this morning we got the 4th layer of sheets on the first end wall. Weather was mild, so dry time was slow, but we did manage to get a coat of fairing compound on before the day ended.
With luck we can hit the end with the air file tomorrow and then dress things out with a light final coat of compound and another section will be done.

Today began the fabric and epoxy application on the walls of the bumper car track. The used dryer sheets really worked well on the bottom of the track. It seems to be worth the extra time it takes to apply them rather than large sheets of glass, and we are recycling.
Only bummer of the day is the dry time did not allow us to get four layer on as we had hoped for. So, last layer tomorrow after a scuff sanding first.

Third day of Soldier A being back on the projects. After a couple of hours with the air file, it is apparent that there will need to be a final thin coat of fairing compound to fill the imperfections that still remain on the bottom of the bumper car track.

The Morton Loggers Jubilee has been one of our favorite events to participate in,
but this weekend was very different than the past couple of years. The vending field had empty spaces everywhere.
The mobile shooting gallery was the big hit and we got to talk gun safety with tons of kids. This weekend was also the first time we got to get on the roof of the Dragon Wagon. What an awesome way to watch the parade.

Monumental! That would be the best way to describe the day!
Started the day with a trip for some plywood to replace the scaffold planks that delaminated in the weather last winter. We had to strip the old nasty plywood off first and clean up the steel frame before the new plywood could be installed. And, to avoid the new planks from suffering the same fate as the originals,
we decided to seal them up real good with some enamel paint on both sides and all edges. To up the refit even more we added sand to the top paint coats for traction.
Next we moved on to the fitting of the second door for the trailer. That went pretty smooth, as all we had to do was fit it to the remaining opening. So, it is clamped and curing for hardware tomorrow.
Thinking that this had been a good day, Soldier A went into hyper drive and cut the opening in the roof for the hatch and framed it out for the surround. By dark the hatch was in and ready for hardware tomorrow.
What an amazing day!

For the last couple of days we have been doing repairs and moving forward with the boat racing attraction. The little race boat arrived and we think it is awesome fun. so the race course construction has begun.
Soldier A has been saving used dryer sheets for some time now and is trying a new method with them instead of fiber glass cloth. The testing of this method yielded a very solid and hard product so he is going forward with the plan. So, thrifty!

Had a very fun and successful outing at Grocery Outlet today. Got to hang out and play with some of our local buds.
We also had the opportunity to test the battery operating system for the portable slot car track. So, we are throwing up a short video of the test success.

Weather was definitely not in favor of a car show, but Dream Builders is for an awesome cause. So, we were all in for the day.
We set up everything! Truck with the paracord, shooting gallery, tank battlefield, and the new slot car track. For those that braved the weather we were a giant rolling toy box!

Took the Dragon Wagon into town today for some materials, only to find out she had a tail light out. As things turned out she had two different style lights on her so we just put on a new matching set.

More fiberglass and epoxy today than any other 3 days. Even if it did take until after nine tonight this was a really awesome day. There is only one corner left to reinforce and the last large piece to apply and we're ready for scales.
If everything goes as well tomorrow that will all get done, as well as the installation of the new batteries. Soldier A is still kicking himself in the ass over leaving the master switch on, but it's pretty much water under the bridge now.

Well it's three out of four dead! Only one of Tiffany's batteries survived the full drain off. After dealing with that debacle the rest of the day was spent starting the interior insulation and final sculpting of the front end of the trailer.
Had to add one final touch up to the fairing compound on the drivers side, but we should be good to go tomorrow for fiberglass. No cool picture tonight.

Days are getting better and better. Today saw more parts painting as well as some really cool building stuff.
Since we are adding an awesome new slot car race track to our widening selection of entertainment attraction, it was time to get started on the track table and bases. We started with the construction of the table top and found that the one inch foam wasn't goin to be stiff enough, so we added some sections of two inch underneath to increase the rigid strength. Epoxied and weighted down the top should be ready for the next phase by Sunday.
We had to stop and cut a bit of fire wood, but then it was on to the portable bases for the track. Lots of cutting, sanding, and routing produced an almost complete first base. It will take two to hold the race track top. More progress tomorrow.

Got off to a pretty strong start this morning only to run out of fairing compound. So, we need to pick some up tomorrow and get back on track. Got some other things done , so the day was not a loss.

What a weekend! The weather just made progress so much easier.
The trailer chassis got its final coat of paint over the completed areas. Then Soldier B & C started cleaning and painting all the parts needed to complete the re-assembly of the project. There was black paint flying everywhere.
Whilst that was going on Soldier A finished the framing construction of the trailer shell, so it is now ready for the first wave of putty and pre-fiberglass sanding. This was just a straight up awesome weekend.
Tomorrow is going to be all about paint and putty.
