More visitors today. It is good to see our closest friends but it really slows the progress. Got a bit more done on the DOT lighting but, not enough to call it finished.
Our test of the new wall covering with the epoxy resin was very successful. We are thinking that the epoxy soaked through the cloth backing and into the wood a bit. So, basically you can't get this stuff apart with a pry bar.
Well, we got a bit off track today, but with good intentions. A brief break in the weather let us clean up all the debris around the motor pool blown about by the high winds that have accompanied all of this soaking rain.
While doing that we also had the opportunity to get another fire going and continued to burn up the demo from the last round of building removal.
Then we got a very pleasant but unexpected visit from a couple of our local SD brothers who just wanted to catch up on the progress of all the projects. The joke of the day being our project list is never ending.
After they left we got the next three light harnesses assembled and installed. We'll get them wired up tomorrow, as well as the remainingthree lights on the back end.
New appliance day. Then we got to the DOT lighting. Harnesses are having to be built as we go.
Then there was the fact that we ended up needing a snake to pull the first set of wires. At least we own one now. 😂
By the end of the day we had the first light functioning.
The weather was still pretty wet today but we have to keep moving forward. We decided it was time to start rounding up the materials we are going to need for the concrete project as well as figure out what we are going to do about the rain issues.
Took Matilda out and got a big load of road base to put down over the plastic before we tie in the rebar.
We also picked up the rebar, chairs, and tie wires, so we are pretty much ready as soon as we come up with that rain plan.
There is still a lot of demo wood to be burned up, so we left Stripe and his chainsaw to take care of the pile and fire, hoping he doesn't burn down the entire back yard. Every time that thing is in his hands he is like an adrenaline junky. We had to redirect our attention to the bathroom in the Ark because we are going a different direction with the shower surround material.
In short, we are removing the coped corners in order to install the wall coverings and trim. We also got our small Tamiya connectors that we are going to use to get the DOT lights mounted yet be able to be removed when the weather breaks and we get to finish the exterior fiberglass work.
As fate would have it we did indeed lose the damaged pop up even though we tried to shore it up. We're not really distraught because we have been using it in the damaged condition for probably four years.
It would be fair to say we more than got our money out of it. So, the project of the day was to dismantle the parts that were worth saving for repairs on our other tents and demo the rest.
It was back into the dirt today for the whole team. As well as waiting for some Email response we need regarding the products we are going to use in the bathroom completion. Sounds like the Flextile products are just what we need.
The real excitement for the team is the fact that we are starting to put dirt back rather than taking it out. Tamping however, is still not a thrilling activity. 😣 Back at it tomorrow.
This post has been a long time coming, and it actually has to do with the Dragon Wagon build!
Back story! The weather up here in the PNW, as all of our readers are aware of, has really taken a turn to the unfriendly. There are lots of alerts and warnings of power outages and more severe stuff to come. The new property has no backup power or heat sources, so Tiffany has truly assumed her role as the ARK!
We did hit a road block today. The cable that Uncle Bob originally built to connect her to shore power or the generator was way too short for the new property because of the layout. We hit the big orange store and about a hundred and a half bucks
later we had 50 feet in length instead of 25.
Got some new LED bulbs as well and now it's like stage lighting inside. Glad we went with a dimmer switch.
