What a day! Woke up at 03:00 this morning to a leaking refrigerator. That was not what we needed, so while that was being addressed we burned up the rest of the demo and cleaned up the mess.
About the time that was done it was time to start the insulation in the rear roof area. Little B tried to help so there is a mess to be cleaned up tomorrow. 😂
Today was just like Christmas! 😁 We had fewer distractions and finally got to finish up the DOT lights on the rear of the Dragon Wagon. After making sure that everything worked properly we tidied up the wiring so we can start putting in the final insulation in preparation for sealing up the rear area of the ceiling. Soldier B also got a bit of time in pealing scales off of the small trailer. In the cold and wind she was not a happy camper. 😡 Still things have to keep moving forward even if the pace is really slow.
More visitors today. It is good to see our closest friends but it really slows the progress. Got a bit more done on the DOT lighting but, not enough to call it finished. Our test of the new wall covering with the epoxy resin was very successful. We are thinking that the epoxy soaked through the cloth backing and into the wood a bit. So, basically you can't get this stuff apart with a pry bar.
Well, we got a bit off track today, but with good intentions. A brief break in the weather let us clean up all the debris around the motor pool blown about by the high winds that have accompanied all of this soaking rain. While doing that we also had the opportunity to get another fire going and continued to burn up the demo from the last round of building removal. Then we got a very pleasant but unexpected visit from a couple of our local SD brothers who just wanted to catch up on the progress of all the projects. The joke of the day being our project list is never ending.
After they left we got the next three light harnesses assembled and installed. We'll get them wired up tomorrow, as well as the remainingthree lights on the back end.
New appliance day. Then we got to the DOT lighting. Harnesses are having to be built as we go.
Then there was the fact that we ended up needing a snake to pull the first set of wires. At least we own one now. 😂 By the end of the day we had the first light functioning.
Lots more little things today, but they do all add up, right?
First it was time to solder all of the female connectors to the rear DOT lights so we can start the install. We are very, very ready to seal up the rear of the ceiling and start the completion of the rig, so we can "glamp" much more comfortably this season.
Then it was off to the big orange box again to get lumber to build a ghetto makeshift canopy over the pad site, so we can get it done and start the building for real.
The day ended with the team doubling down and moving the giant dirt pile out of the way so we can set the forms to elevation.
OH, and we found a wall covering we really like for the main cabin.
The weather was still pretty wet today but we have to keep moving forward. We decided it was time to start rounding up the materials we are going to need for the concrete project as well as figure out what we are going to do about the rain issues.
Took Matilda out and got a big load of road base to put down over the plastic before we tie in the rebar. We also picked up the rebar, chairs, and tie wires, so we are pretty much ready as soon as we come up with that rain plan.
